Speaking of laughter; have you read any Heyer? She cracks me up!
My Heyer experience is very limited. I gave up on 'Bath Tangle', but liked 'Devil's Cub' and 'The Masqueraders'. None of those inspired the devotion I see other fans spouting though. Pinning my hopes on 'Frederica' and 'Venetia' both of which I haven't been able to get hold of yet.
But the shooting scene in 'Devil's Cub'? Absolutely fab, and very clearly the inspiration for one of my favorite scenes in 'Lord of Scoundrels'.
I would say mine is limited as well and I've not read any of the titles you mentioned (thought Devil's Cub is on my PaperbackSwap wish list). I thought THE GRAND SOPHY and FRIDAY'S CHILD were both a riot. If you see those you might think of giving them a try.
I'm going to remember to always drem big.
